The geto-dacians, which were an etnohistoric unit in the thoracic world, are attested through archaeological discoveries near Oltenita even from Sixth Century. The getic fortress from Cascioarele and the geto-dacian “dava”(Dacian toponymic for citadel) from Radovanu are the only fortifications of this type researched until nowadays from the County if Calaraasi. In the showcases if the Museum of Gumelnita Culture from Oltenita are exhibited several vestiges discovered both during the researches carried out in these fortifications and aslo the vestiges belonging to other geto-dacian settlements or necropolises.
